Cagrilintide
Also known as · AM833
Overview
A long-acting amylin analogue investigated alone and in fixed-ratio combination with semaglutide (CagriSema) for weight management. Acts on satiety pathways distinct from incretin signaling.
Research profile · for clinicians
Based on research: an amylin analogue studied as a satiety agent that works through a different pathway than incretins. Trials most often pair it with semaglutide (CagriSema) to combine hindbrain satiety signaling with GLP-1 mechanisms for additive weight-management effects.
Mechanism of action
Activation of amylin and calcitonin receptors in the area postrema and hindbrain delays gastric emptying and amplifies satiety signaling, complementary to GLP-1 mechanisms.
