Overview

The native hypothalamic decapeptide that stimulates pituitary LH and FSH release. Its very short half-life means pulsatile administration preserves the physiological signal.

Based on research: long-established clinically as a diagnostic agent and, via pump delivery, as fertility treatment in hypothalamic hypogonadism. Widely studied as an alternative to hCG for maintaining testicular function.

Mechanism of action

Pulsatile GnRH receptor activation stimulates gonadotrophs to release LH and FSH; continuous rather than pulsatile exposure downregulates the receptor and suppresses the axis instead.
