Thymosin α1

Also known as · Tα1 · Thymalfasin

Overview

A 28-amino-acid acetylated peptide originally isolated from calf thymus. Investigated as an immunomodulator in chronic viral hepatitis and certain malignancy research programs internationally.

Research profile · for clinicians

Based on research: studied as an immune-tuning peptide. Rather than broadly suppressing or stimulating immunity, it is examined for helping T-cell maturation and dendritic-cell signaling — used adjunctively in chronic viral hepatitis and vaccine-response research, particularly in older cohorts.

Mechanism of action

Activates TLR-mediated dendritic-cell signaling, promotes Th1 cytokine profile, and supports T-cell differentiation from precursor populations.
