ARA-290

Also known as · Cibinetide

Overview

An 11-amino-acid peptide derived from erythropoietin's helix B that activates tissue-protective signalling without any erythropoietic effect — studied notably in small-fibre neuropathy.

Research profile · for clinicians

Based on research: one of the few repair peptides with randomised human data. Trials in sarcoidosis-associated small-fibre neuropathy reported improved corneal nerve-fibre measures and pain scores.

Mechanism of action

Selectively engages the EPOR/CD131 innate repair receptor, activating JAK2/STAT3 anti-apoptotic and anti-inflammatory signalling in neurons and endothelium while sparing the classical EPO receptor.

Research record

  • [01]Randomised trials in sarcoidosis small-fibre neuropathy: improved neuropathic symptoms.
  • [02]Type 2 diabetes neuropathy studies reported increased corneal nerve fibre density.
