Overview

A second-generation growth hormone-releasing peptide used clinically in Japan as a diagnostic agent for GH deficiency. More potent than GHRP-6 with less appetite stimulation.

Based on research: well characterised as a GH-release provocateur. Studied for pulsatile GH secretion, IGF-1 elevation, and as a diagnostic test of pituitary function.

Mechanism of action

Binds GHS-R1a on pituitary somatotrophs and hypothalamic neurons, amplifying GH pulse amplitude while partially suppressing somatostatin tone. Synergises with GHRH analogues.
