Overview
An orally administered octapeptide that acts locally in the gut lumen to tighten intestinal junctions, studied in coeliac disease as an adjunct to a gluten-free diet.

Based on research: the most clinically advanced intestinal-permeability peptide, with multiple randomised coeliac trials. Its Phase 3 programme did not meet its primary endpoint.
Mechanism of action
Blocks zonulin-mediated disassembly of tight junctions, reducing paracellular passage of gliadin fragments and other luminal antigens across the epithelium.
